When children have access to arts education they become better learners by improving communication and problem solving skills while exercising their creativity. Copper Street Brass is a leader in arts education. Since we were founded in 2008, we've served nearly 50,000 students in 800 school visits. Our elementary lyceum programs, "Big Ears and the Blue Ox" and "Tools of the Trade: Building Music With Brass" are carefully designed to teach music and critical listening while supporting school music standards. Will you help us bring "Big Ears" to thousands more children in 2018 by making a financial contribution to Copper Street Brass?

Support The CSB

"We have had the privilege of attending concerts by The Copper Street Brass in the past several years. We find that their concerts are a wonderful balance between classical, jazz and pop, which we enjoy very much. We are proud to support the Copper Street Brass."

Dianne McCarthy, CSB Board Member

The Copper Street Brass (CSB) represents the Evolution of the Brass Quintet. This means we have uprooted the brass quintet from its formal foundations and created a new, dynamic ensemble which expresses our artistic voice using a dazzling fusion of brass, keyboard, guitar, percussion, and electronic instruments. We are the only full-time brass chamber music ensemble in Minnesota, and one of only a handful in the country. Our group sound has developed over eight years of rehearsals, experiments, concerts, trials, errors, and following what is true to our artistic voice and individual innate talent and experience. We approach performing and teaching not as a “brass quintet”, but as a group of musicians with a message to share.

We spend our time and energies inspiring students to try music, or to take a fresh look at why they love to play in band or sing in choir. Our evening concerts push the boundries of what is expected of instrumental music. We love what we do, and we couldnt' do it without your support!

"These five musicians are exciting performers, dedicated educators, and lovely people. We found them during Northfield's Vintage Band Festival 2013 and have followed them ever since. They are a 501c3 non-profit and do amazing work with school music groups all over Minnesota. They are worthy of broad support and I encourage everyone to give to their organization!!"

What People Say About our Concerts

Thank you for the outstanding performance!  People are still talking about it!  Words cannot effectively describe the joy and high musicianship we experienced with the concert by The Copper Street Brass.  The program had ultimate variety and musicality, and was enjoyed by all who attended.

Lee Afdahl, ”A Festival of Music” Concert Series, First Presbyterian Church, Rochester MN

What People Say About our Concerts

Beyond good stage presence and an engaging rapport with the audience, this group is seriously good. The ensemble is tight, and pitch-perfect. Everyone blends well, and it is clear the musicians enjoy playing together.

From a Concert Review by John Shearer, New Mexico State University

What People Say About our Concerts

The CSB can do it all. From in your face Tower of Power-style aggressive brass virtuosity to subtle symphonic nuance, The CSB delivers.
